Angling

Title

Angling

Description

At first glance, this image seems to suggest an inept Sportswoman who has entangled her line on a man's coat while attempting to cast. However, when we consider the image in the context of engaging in mixed-gender sporting activities as a metaphor for the matrimonial field, this woman's use of her rod to ensnare a man (read: potential husband) no longer seems accidental. She's angling for a man, rather than a fish, and her fishing equipment becomes a kind of tool for pursuing her matrimonial ambitions.
